A high speed rail alternative solution has been produced by HS2AA, working with all their affiliated action groups. We value your feedback on our proposal.

Key feedback received on the Alternative Compensation Solution is detailed below

Blight is more widespread:
There is already evidence that the alternative routes identified by HS2 are also suffering property blight.  Aylesbury Vale District Council have suggested that all those suffering blight from HS2 should be treated equitably: so special treatment before the route is chosen should not be reserved for the preferred route option (the A413 corridor).

Final compensation in alternative scheme underemphasised:
Feedback suggests that the compensation for those who never sell blighted properties before the operation of the new railway should be given greater prominence.  Although contained in the alternative proposal in the research paper, it is not mentioned in the summaries despite its importance.

Worry about cost of extending the principle
For most major projects the blighting effect is countered by an improvement in amenity eg a new school or hospital, producing a more limited net blight effect.  However there are major infrastructure projects that can have no counterbalancing advantages to communities and individuals eg high speed rail.  These would be covered by the new pinciple.
